AS OF A UNANIMOUS VOTE TAKEN AT THE AUGUST 18th, 2009 BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S MEETING, REGARDING SAFETY CONCERNS ON THE RIFLE RANGE, ALL STEEL AMMUNITION AS WELL AS FULLY AUTOMATIC WEAPONS HAVE BEEN BANNED ON CLUB PROPERTY. USE OR POSSESSION OF EITHER OF THESE TWO ITEMS WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP!   PLEASE PASS THE WORD!
This subject has been brought up at meetings and discussion groups many times... People hiking, hunting, and fishing have heard and seen riccochetting bullets coming past the backstop of our targets for one reason or another... The descision to ban these bullets along with the other rules of "no random shooting" and "no shooting at targets placed on the ground", was to try to eliminate most or all of the riccochettes. A lead, copper jacketed bullet will mushroom, deform, and lose velocity much quicker than a steel cored or armor piercing bullet... A magnet will be used on the bullet tip to determine the make-up of the projectile..  Pennsylvania does not permit semi-auto or fully auto rifles for hunting. The shooters of semi-auto and fully auto rifles that generally use the steel core military surplus ammo also tend to shoot many more random rounds at the targets without the regard for proper marksmanship techniques resulting in wild bullet travels, riccochetting, and a drastic reduction of the target life for our other members who only stop in to sight in their rifles, improve on their marksmanship, or to check the ballistics of their handloads. We do hope that all of our members will understand and respect these changes... Since we are first and foremost a hunting, fishing, and conservation organization, this ban should be of little concern to hunters... To our other recreational shooters who frequently buy military surplus ammunition and may find these actions extreme, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you...The safety and well being of all our members must come first... Thank You!!!

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life:
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,"Which wolf will win?"
The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
